POSITION

 Operator (Combo/Vactor) - Industrial Services or Underground Infrastructure

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Assists setting up, driving and operating a combination unit (sewer cleaner) as well as various other equipment in the performance of daily operations. Operates waste hauling vehicles as directed based on operational needs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Load and prepare equipment for upcoming jobs. Unload equipment upon arrival on the job. Re-load equipment upon completion of the job and unload equipment upon return to the shop. This includes lifting, carrying and pulling equipment of various size, shape and weight.

  • Set up and operate sewer cleaning equipment, high-pressure water jet and positive displacement vacuum system trucks. This includes lifting, carrying and pulling hoses of up to 100 lbs., climbing on to the unit (12' high) for set up and minor maintenance, standing, kneeling or bending for long periods of time.

  • Drive any and all vehicles as needed including those with manual and automatic transmissions.

  • Set up and operate various hand held and hand operated equipment including power tools, shovels etc.

  • Places traffic cones and other barricades at job sites; removes manhole covers and examines manhole to determine proper set-up procedure.

  • Locates line sections to be cleaned and/or inspected, using map, and determines set up procedures.

  • Ability to operate all sewer cleaning equipment with the Taplin fleet

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Good communication skills in written and verbal forms

  • Good organizational skills, ability to prioritize and multi-task

  • Able to perform job with little or no supervision or instructions

  • Thorough knowledge of company field equipment and its capabilities.

    • Clean driving record and insurable in accordance with Company’s current auto insurance carrier

    • Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), Class B minimum with tanker and air brake endorsements.
